Gary Wilson Invite Marked by 9 Personal Bests

Minneapolis, MN -- North Central University (NCU) Track and Field took the short trip over to the University of Minnesota Wednesday to compete at the ventured to the Gary Wilson Invitational. Today, just the runners and jumpers would compete at the invitational. The meet was highlighted by 9 personal bests and 2 season bests across 14 North Central student-athletes competing. 

Sprints:

On the women's side, junior Serena Lanes led the team in both the 100-meter and the 400-meter races. She ran 13.33 in the 100m and a season best 1:02.77 in the 400m (5th in UMAC). Lydia Schroeder set a new personal best in the 100m with a time of 13.77 seconds. Chloe Bjorlin also set a new personal best in the 400m with a time of 1:05.44. 

On the men's side, seniors Derek Burgin and Isaac Weiers highlighted the day with new PRs in the 400-meter dash with times of 51.55 and 52.72 seconds, respectively. Nehemiah Juaire led the Rams in the short distance sprints with an 11.75 second 100-meter and 24.47 200-meter. 

Distance:

The Rams showed out in the women's 800-meter race with three personal bests and one season best. Savi Rael led the way with a new personal best of 2:25.69 (4th in UMAC). Behind her was Brycelyn Brewster with a season best 2:33.11. Hope Naegelen and Amira DiSabatino both set new PRs with times of 2:45.56 and 2:51.05, respectively. Jessica Redman ran a 5:21.20 in the 1500-meter to set another personal best for the freshman. 

On the men's team, Garrett Converse put together an impressive performance in the 1500-meter run with a new personal best of 4:16.00 (2nd in UMAC).

Jumps:

Kristen Ragasa led the women's team once again with a triple jump of 9.99m and a long jump of 4.24m. Chloe Bjorlin also competed in the long jump, finishing with a jump of 3.47m. 

Isaac Weiers led the men in the high jump today with a height of 1.83m. Not far behind him was teammate Nehemiah Juaire with a jump of 1.78m. Both men were just 0.02 meters shy of their season best.


Looking Ahead:

Both Track & Field Teams head to the Rider/Bolstorff Invite hosted by Macalester College this Saturday, April 27th starting at 10:00 AM.
