Minneapolis, MN -- The North Central University (NCU) softball team returned to Xcel Field Park this afternoon to take on the University of Minnesota Morris (MLC) Cougars in their final games of the year. NCU would struggle all afternoon to capitalize with runners in scoring position. On the day, the Cougars out-hit the Rams 22-7 as they took both games by a final score of 10-0.
Game 1: NCU 0, UMM 10
Morris was able to strike first in the opening inning to make it a 1-0 game. They opened things up in the second as they had a whopping 8 hits and scored 7 runs to make it 8-0. NCU would have two hitless innings in a row before UMM tacked on an additional run in the top of the fourth. The Rams finally got something going in the bottom of the inning as Delaney Riddle doubled up the middle and would eventually reach third on a wild pitch. Kelsey Henninger reached on a base on balls, but NCU would leave two runners on to close the inning. Minnesota Morris was able to take game one by a final of 10-0.
Game 2: NCU 0, UMM 10
Game two would go scoreless through the first two innings, as the Rams were able to shore up their defense but were unable to get the bats rolling. In the top of the third, NCU's defense would waiver as they committed 2 crucial errors that led to three UMM runs being scored. Maci Tripp and Maggie Kohl each picked up singles in the bottom of the inning, but would still be left scoreless. The Cougars kept the momentum as they totaled 5 hits and 5 runs in the fourth to take an 8-0 lead. North Central dropped 1,2,3 in each of their next two offensive halves and the Morris Cougars won once again by a final score of 10-0

This completes NCU Softball's 2024 season. The Rams went 3-33 on the year, and 0-18 in the conference. Softball bids farewell to its four seniors in Carla Mendoza, Isabela Gallardo, Katelynn Fox, and Kara Lewis.
