Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Yellowjackets Sting the Rams in Superior

Superior, WI -- Tonight, North Central University (NCU) men's soccer made the trip to Superior, Wisconsin to take on the University of Wisconsin Superior (UWS) Yellowjackets. The Rams would have a challenge on their hands as they squared off with the reigning Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Champions. Last season, North Central was defeated in both matchups with UW-Superior. Tonight, the Rams faced 36 shots from the Yellowjackets and would lose by a final score of 8-0.

After being named UMAC Defensive Player of the Week for his shutout win against UW-Stout last Saturday, freshman goalkeeper Trystin Procyk got the start in net against the Yellowjackets. The NCU defense would be tested early as UWS fired a shot that was blocked just 30 seconds after the opening kickoff. UW-Superior cashed in at the 10th minute as they scored their first goal of the game. The Rams fended off the Yellowjackets for much of the first half, but the swarm around NCU's net would eventually sting the Rams as UWS scored three goals in the final 10 minutes of the first half to take a commanding 4-0 lead. The Rams were out-shot by the Jackets 20-4 and found themselves trailing big at the half.

UW-Superior picked up right where they left off, scoring their fifth goal of the game in the 47th minute. Keeper Trystin Procyk tallied 6 saves before his night was done and fellow freshman Peyton Carselowey took to the net. The ball seemed to be stuck in the NCU defensive half as the Yellowjackets fired 16 shots and North Central recorded 0 shots in the second half. On the night, UWS earned 13 corners to just 1 for the Rams. With a lack of offensive output, NCU would lose 8-0 to the defending conference champions.

Today's box score can be found here.
