Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Rams Battle with Bethany Lutheran at Home

Minneapolis, MN -- The North Central University (NCU) women's soccer team battled with the Vikings of Bethany Lutheran College (BLC) on their home turf on Saturday afternoon in Downtown Minneapolis. For NCU, this was their first chance for some Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action on their home field. The contest opened as a defensive battle with the score staying knotted at 0-0 for much of the first half. The Vikings found the back of the net with just under 10 minutes to play in the opening frame and added another just minutes later that gave them enough momentum to pull away for a 5-0 win over the Rams.

The contest started with the two squads not giving each other much breathing room. The Vikings were the first to get a little loose but it was Renae Juni making some timely saves in goal to help keep BLC off the scoreboard. The Rams remained poised to continue to lock down the Vikings, but in the 37th minute, BLC was able to find a small crease and take advantage for the first goal of the afternoon. The Vikings used that momentum to add a second goal in the 38th minute increasing their lead 2-0 despite the impressive defensive effort by the Rams.

The final 45 minutes opened up with the same defensive intensity for NCU, flying around all over the field. The Vikings found one early opportunity that they were able to exploit for their third goal of the game. Juni continued to be active in goal for the Rams notching 11 saves on the afternoon. Madeline Lowe would record the Rams' lone shot in the second half. NCU was able to keep the Vikings scoring relatively quiet the rest of the contest but would eventually fall 5-0.
