Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Rams Suffer 2-0 Loss to the Eagles

St. Paul, MN -- Saturday, the North Central University (NCU) Men's Soccer team headed crosstown to St. Paul for a matchup with the University of Northwestern (UNW) Eagles. Last season, the Rams and Eagles battled in two tight contests that resulted in a 1-1 tie and a 1-0 victory for UNW. This evening, North Central would be shutout in a 2-0 loss to the Eagles in their first meeting of the season.

It did not take long for the first score of the game to happen as Northwestern found the back of the net in the 6th minute on just the second shot of the match. Facing a deficit early, the Rams went on the attack with freshmen Sam Saye and Isaac Hinkle firing shots on goal but would be denied by the UNW keeper. Just before the end of the half, Northwestern cashed in again to go up 2-0 and add to the Rams' frustrations. North Central was outshot 10-3 in the first half.

The second half would start out with sloppy play as there were 5 fouls, 2 yellow cards, and an offside in the first 15 minutes. There were a total of 6 yellow cards and 1 red on the evening. North Central clamped down defensively as they limited UNW to 4 shots and no goals in the second half. This also turned into more offensive opportunities, resulting in 7 total shots (2 SOG); however, the pair of shots on goal were turned away by the Eagles. NCU goalkeeper Peyton Carselowey totaled 6 saves on the evening as the Rams fell 2-0 to the UNW Eagles.

Looking Ahead:

Men's Soccer returns to Minneapolis next Wednesday, October 4th for a matchup with the University of Minnesota Morris at 4:30 PM. The North Central Student Athlete Leadership Council (SALC) is hosting a "Fill the Hill" event, encouraging all NCU students, staff, and faculty to fill the hill on the south end of Elliot Park Field as we cheer on our Rams.
