St. Paul, MN -- Saturday, North Central University (NCU) women's soccer made the short trip across the Twin Cities to St. Paul to square off with the University of Northwestern (UNW) Eagles for the first time this season. NCU came into today's match still in search of their first win of the year but would have a battle on their hands against a talented UNW squad. This afternoon, the Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead early and rode that momentum through to the end and they won 3-0 over the Rams.
First-year goalkeeper
Erma Ramirez got the start in goal for North Central today. UNW went on the attack early in this one, totaling 5 shots (1 SOG) in the first 10 minutes of play. The Rams struggled to keep it out of their own defensive half as the Eagles capitalized in the 10th minute with their first goal of the afternoon. Just four minutes later, UNW struck again with another goal to put them up 2-0. Northwestern flooded the NCU net with 23 total shots in the first half, 7 of which
Erma Ramirez would gather in for saves. The Rams found themselves down 2-0 at the break.
To start the second half, UNW immediately picked up where they left off, firing a handful of shots on goal that would be denied by Ramirez. In the 71st minute, North Central committed a costly foul in the box resulting in a Northwestern penalty kick that they cashed in on to extend their lead to 3-0. Junior transfer
Tayler Boudreaux recorded the Rams' only shot, as the UNW defense was shut down all evening. The match ended in an Eagles 3-0 victory.
