Minneapolis, MN -- North Central University (NCU) Rocket League and Valorant opened their 2025 seasons this week. Rocket League started their season strong with a clean 3-0 series win this past Monday against Albright College. NCU Valorant was unable to find the same spark as their Rocket League counterpart, falling 2-0 in their season opener versus Neumont College of Computer Sciences.
Rocket League vs Albright College (3-0 Victory) - FULL RESULTS
Game 1: NCU - 3 AC - 0 | Game 2: NCU - 5 AC - 0 | Game 3: NCU - 4 AC - 2
The first goal of the season would be scored by newcomer
Josh "TheCornDealer" Brown, who would also secure 2 assists on the night. The top performer for the Rams would be junior
Andre "Drae" Muteba who would score 7 goals across the 3 games with 17 shots and 4 goal saves. Returner
Josiah "Uso_Usagi" John would round out the squad's performance showing improvement from last season earning 4 goals, 7 shots on goal, and 2 assists. The Rams look to build momentum in their matchup against William Peace University this Monday.
Valorant vs Neumont College of Computer Science (2-0 Defeat) - FULL RESULTS
Game 1 - Lotus: NCU - 2 NCCS - 13 | Game 2 - Haven: NCU - 1 NCCS - 13
Map 1 on Lotus would see the Rams fighting frequently for bottleneck control, but unable to amount momentum due to chip damage from their opponent's utility. While the team would start with a first-round defensive win, poor adjustments would see the Rams fall 2-13 as they could not keep pace with Neumont. While map 2 saw more team play from the NCU squad, losing frequent early fights would prove to be the team's downfall losing the map 1-13 and the series empty-handed. Valorant will try to recover in their matchup against DePaul University's Academy Black team on Tuesday, February 11th.
