Dundas, MN -- The North Central University (NCU) softball team began the 2025 season on Friday night, facing the Macalester College (MAC) Scots at the Dundas Dome. Despite a challenging first inning, the Rams fought hard to generate offensive momentum and build defensive consistency throughout the game, ultimately falling 13-0 in five innings.
Macalester took an early lead with a 13-run first inning, but freshman pitcher
Addison Schroer and the NCU defense responded by holding the Scots scoreless for the remainder of the game. Schroer displayed grit in the circle, recording five strikeouts while keeping Macalester off the board in the final four innings. In the third inning, senior
Kelsey Henninger sparked the offense with a base hit down the left-field line, giving the Rams their first runner of the game. Senior
Delaney Riddle followed in the fourth with a single up the middle, marking North Central's second hit of the contest. NCU's best scoring opportunity came in the fifth inning when sophomore
Erica Gilles worked a leadoff walk and advanced to third on a groundout by freshman
Kaitlyn Havens. However, Macalester's pitching held strong, securing the 13-0 win before the Rams could capitalize.
