Superior, WI -- The Track and Field teams from North Central University (NCU) competed in day two of the UMAC Indoor Championships today. After the meet came to a close, the North Central Men finished in 4th place and the women finished 7th place. Today's competition was highlighted by a handful of freshman women for the Rams. Joyce Horton took home 2nd place in the triple jump with a leap of 10.14 meters. In the women's 60m finale, Catelyn Ketterling finished 3rd overall with a time of 8.32 seconds. And finally, Jazzmin Celis set a personal best in the women's 200m, finishing in 4th place with a time of 28.41 seconds.
Sprints:
On the men's side, freshman Hunter Harris secured 7th place in the 60m dash final, crossing the finish line in 7.41 seconds. Harris also notched a personal best in the 200m dash, placing 9th with a time of 23.72. Senior Nehemiah Juaire ran a season-best of 24.59 seconds in the event, finishing in 14th place, while Isaiah Hernandez completed the race in 26.75 seconds.
For the women, freshman Catelyn Ketterling delivered a strong performance in the 60m dash final, finishing 3rd with a time of 8.32 seconds. In the 200m dash, freshman Jazzmin Celis set a personal best, finishing in 4th place with a time of 28.41 seconds. Freshmen, Ari Klein (29.34, PR) and Lily Ciske (29.39) rounded out the event for NCU. The women's 60m hurdles final saw Joyce Horton finish 4th in 10.17 seconds. Ari Klein followed in 6th place, clocking 10.37 seconds.
Distance:
In the men's 800m, junior Garrett Converse placed 11th, running 2:07.46, while freshman Colton Hagen followed in 15th place at 2:12.75. Freshman Leighton Helander set a personal best in the 3000m, finishing in 16th place with a time of 10:21.29. Sophomore David Bjorge came in 17th place, clocking in at 10:39.46.
For the women's 800m, senior Savi Rael ran 2:36.17 to take 8th place. Jessica Redman followed with a season-best time of 2:40.44, finishing 10th place overall.
Jumps:
In the women's triple jump, freshman Joyce Horton finished as the runner-up with a personal record of 10.14m. Freshman Lily Ciske also contributed with a 7th-place finish, leaping 9.39m.
For the men, Tom Cao cleared 3.55m in the pole vault, earning 8th place and adding 1 point to the Rams' total.
Throws:
In the men's shot put, junior Caleb Lundt led the Rams with a 9.13m throw, finishing 12th place. Junior Andre Muteba followed in 15th place with a 7.88m mark.
Relays:
The Men's 4x400m Relay team of Hunter Harris, Colton Hagen, Garrett Converse, and Isaac Weiers set a season-best time of 3:49.14, finishing in 6th place.
On the women's side, the 4x400m Relay squad of Jazzmin Celis, Joyce Horton, Lily Ciske, and Savi Rael also achieved a season-best performance, running 4:29.50 to finish in 4th place.
Looking Ahead:
Both teams will take a break and return to begin the Outdoor season. The first meet will be on April 5th as they partake in the Hamline Invite.
