Ankeny, IA -- Tonight, the North Central University (NCU) men's basketball team traveled to Ankeny, Iowa to play in the NCCAA DII North Region Semifinal, where they faced the Providence University College (PUC) Pilots in their first meeting. The Rams took a big victory over the Pilots as they defeated them with a final score of 101-49. North Central dominated with 56 points in the paint and 48 bench points.
The first half of the game opened with North Central pushing the pace early. After a brief 6-4 lead by Providence, the Rams took control with a 15-0 run, fueled by back-to-back baskets from
Carmello McNeal and a three-pointer by
Nik Feller. By halftime, North Central had built a commanding 33-point lead. North Central's defense was relentless, forcing 15 turnovers and converting them into fast-break points. By halftime, they led 58-25, shooting 57.5% from the field while holding Providence to just 31% shooting. The Rams went into the half with a very commanding lead of 58-25.
The Rams stayed in control after halftime, with
Remy Wedgeworth-Brown hitting a three to spark another run. The bench extended the lead, with
Jacob Becher grabbing rebounds and adding second-chance points. North Central's defense continued to stifle Providence, forcing rushed shots and turnovers.
Leyton Barr and
Jaquan Adams helped push the lead past 50 before
Isaiah Ronning's late three-pointer capped the dominant performance. North Central advanced to the region championship with a score of 101-49.
