North Central Competes at Macalester College in Rider/Bolstorff Invite

St. Paul, MN -- The Men's and Women's Track & Field teams participated in the Rider/Bolstorff Invite today, hosted by Macalester College in Saint Paul. Today's meet was highlighted by 2 broken school records, 7 personal bests, and 8 season bests. Senior Savi Rael and sophomore Jessica Redman also punched their ticket to the 2025 NCCAA National Championships.

Sprints:

On the women's side, freshman Catelyn Ketterling led the Rams with a 3rd-place finish in the 200m dash, setting a new personal best and NCU record of 26.42 seconds. Freshman Jazzmin Celis followed with a time of 28.47, and freshman Lily Ciske ran 28.63. In the 100m dash, Ketterling also posted a strong time of 12.93 seconds to finish 15th.

For the men, freshman Josh Hinson starred in the 400m, clocking a personal-best 50.91 seconds to place 2nd overall. Freshmen Zak Ruhland and Leighton Helander competed in the 400m with times of 55.46 and 1:01.20, respectively. Junior Jaquan Adams turned in a personal-best 11.39 in the 100m, while freshman Hunter Harris finished right behind him in 11.42 seconds. 

Distance:

Sophomore Jessica Redman led the women's distance squad by placing 5th in the 3000m steeplechase, running a season-best 13:12.46. In the 800m, senior Savi Rael posted a season-best time of 2:26.10 to finish 9th, while junior Brycelyn Brewster and sophomore Avah Kraushaar rounded out the group with times of 2:30.67 and 2:44.09, respectively. 

On the men's side, junior Garrett Converse highlighted the mid-distance events with a season-best 2:10.00 in the 800m and later finished 10th in the 1500m with a season-best 4:24.72. Leighton Helander and sophomore David Bjorge also achieved personal bests in the 1500m, running 4:39.14 and 4:50.38, respectively.

Throws:

The Rams' throwers had an active day. Junior Jackie Lindsay earned a 12th-place finish in the women's javelin with a personal-best toss of 25.70 meters, while Avah Kraushaar posted a season-best mark of 18.86 meters.

On the men's side, freshman Colton Hagen led the javelin group, placing 8th with a throw of 35.75 meters. Junior Andre Muteba competed in four throwing events, with a top throw of 9.91 meters in the shot put and 33.15 meters in the hammer throw. Junior Caleb Lundt hit a personal best in the discus with a mark of 28.01 meters.

Jumps:

In the women's triple jump, freshman Joyce Horton delivered a strong 7th-place finish with a leap of 10.42 meters. She also cleared 1.30 meters in the high jump to place 15th. Hope Naegelen leaped 4.03 meters in the long jump.

For the men, freshman Zak Ruhland finished 4th in the high jump, clearing 1.75 meters.

Relays:

The women's 4x400m relay team of Lily Ciske, Brycelyn Brewster, Savi Rael, and Joyce Horton ran a season-best time of 4:15.11 to place 2nd overall.

On the men's side, the 4x100m relay team featuring Zak Ruhland, Nehemiah Juaire, Hunter Harris, and Jaquan Adams also set a season-best mark, running 43.82 seconds to finish 4th place and break the NCU record.

Looking Ahead:

The Rams now turn their attention to the UMAC Outdoor Championships, hosted by the University of Minnesota-Morris, beginning Friday, May 2nd.
