Superior, WI – Friday, North Central University (NCU) baseball continued its series with Game 3 against the University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS) Yellowjackets. Despite a tough final result, the Rams showed flashes defensively while continuing to battle through a challenging conference stretch in an 8-0 setback.
North Central looked to settle in early behind sophomore LHP
Brian Dahlstrand, who worked through traffic in the opening innings. After an early defensive miscue allowed runs to cross in the first, Dahlstrand responded by limiting further damage and keeping the game within reach through the middle frames. He finished with 4.0 innings pitched, striking out three while navigating multiple high-pressure situations. The Rams' defense showed resilience throughout the contest, turning two double plays and flashing clean execution behind the pitching staff. Sophomore RHP
Tim Bullert provided relief out of the bullpen, tossing 2.1 innings and working through a stretch that included multiple hit batters, while sophomore RHP/IF
Jayden Mersereau closed the game with 1.2 scoreless innings, keeping momentum steady late. Offensively, North Central continued to compete at the plate despite facing a strong outing on the mound. The Rams' highlight came from freshman infielder
Jack Meckler, who recorded the team's lone hit with a single in the fifth inning, breaking up the no-hit bid and providing a spark in the lineup. NCU showed discipline in stretches, drawing a walk from sophomore infielder
Abiram Terron De Jesus, while consistently putting balls in play and forcing defensive execution. The Rams battled through 11 strikeouts but continued to grind out at-bats across all nine innings, a trend that has shown growth as the series has progressed. Defensively, North Central limited additional damage in key moments, stranding runners and preventing innings from escalating further. The pitching staff combined to hold the opposition to six earned runs despite 11 hits allowed, showcasing the ability to pitch through adversity and limit big innings outside of a late push.
