Rams Explode for 68 Runs in Dominant Doubleheader Sweep

Watertown, WI – Monday, North Central University (NCU) Softball delivered a dominant offensive showing in a non-conference doubleheader, sweeping both games in emphatic fashion behind explosive run production and consistent pressure on the bases. The Rams piled up 68 total runs across the two contests, highlighted by multiple multi-hit performances and aggressive baserunning that set the tone early and never let up.

Game 1: NCU 34, MBU 3

North Central wasted no time asserting control in the opener, plating 8 runs in the first inning and never looking back. The early surge was fueled by patience at the plate and timely hitting, as the Rams drew walks, capitalized on hit-by-pitches, and strung together key RBI opportunities. Freshman outfielder Abi Rogers ignited the offense from the leadoff spot, reaching base multiple times and applying pressure with her speed, while freshman shortstop Reese Jenkins added an RBI and worked three walks to keep innings alive. Sophomore catcher Kaitlyn Havens contributed early production, while junior first baseman Erica Gilles drove in runs in key spots. The breakout inning came in the third, where North Central erupted for 12 runs on 10 hits, turning the game into a rout. Freshman third baseman/catcher Rhaina Boggess delivered a standout performance, collecting three hits, including two doubles, and driving in four runs. Freshman designated player/first baseman Bailey Bast was equally impactful, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBIs and consistently delivering in scoring situations. Graduate pitcher Alley Fleener led both in the circle and at the plate, tossing a complete game with eight strikeouts while also going 3-for-6 with seven RBIs and two doubles. The Rams added 11 more runs in the fifth inning to cap off the offensive explosion. As a team, North Central totaled 20 hits and 18 walks, showcasing a relentless approach that kept constant pressure on the defense.

Game 2: NCU 34, MBU 5

The Rams carried their momentum into game two with another massive first inning, scoring 10 runs and immediately seizing control. Abi Rogers again set the tone, reaching base and swiping multiple bags, finishing the game with five runs scored and four stolen bases. Reese Jenkins turned in one of the top performances of the day, going 3-for-5 with a double, five RBIs, and four runs scored, consistently delivering in high-leverage spots. Junior infielder Kianna Kidder added to the offensive barrage with four RBIs and five runs scored, while freshman utility player Mykaela Broek contributed three RBIs and controlled the game in the circle. North Central continued to pile on runs across the middle innings, including a 16-run fourth inning that broke the game wide open. The Rams showed discipline at the plate with 15 walks and were repeatedly hit by pitches, turning nearly every baserunner into a scoring opportunity. Freshman outfielder Allina Mendoza and junior outfielder Genesis Friedl each drove in three runs, while Bast and Boggess added multi-RBI efforts to round out a complete offensive performance. In the circle, Broek earned the win, striking out eight over five innings and limiting damage despite scattered hits. North Central finished with 13 hits while capitalizing heavily on free bases and defensive miscues, continuing their aggressive and efficient offensive trend.
