COLLEGEVILLE, MINNESOTA - Tuesday, the NCU men's soccer team traveled to Collegeville for a nonconference matchup with Saint John's University. The Rams found the back of the net early but were unable to slow a strong offensive showing from the Johnnies, falling 11-1 at Haws Field. David Ajayi provided NCU's goal, converting a first-half penalty kick.
FIRST HALF
Saint John's opened the scoring in the sixth minute and added a penalty kick to take a 2-0 advantage. North Central quickly answered after the Rams drew a red card against the Johnnies in the 13th minute. Sophomore forward David Ajayi stepped to the spot and converted the ensuing penalty kick, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
The remainder of the half belonged to the home side, however, as Saint John's built an 8-1 advantage by halftime. North Central goalkeeper Landon Bedoy made two saves during his 45 minutes in net.
SECOND HALF
NCU showed more attacking life after halftime, generating nine of its 11 total shots in the second period. Freshman forward Aroda Adris and sophomore forward Israel Tomlin each put attempts on frame, while the Rams earned two corner kicks. Saint John's added three second-half goals to close out the 11-1 final.
Freshman goalkeeper Owen Ellefson took over in goal for the second half and recorded two saves. The Rams finished the afternoon with 11 shots, four shots on goal and two corner kicks, while Saint John's totaled 32 shots, 16 shots on goal and 16 corners.

North Central will return to conference play on Saturday against Bethany Lutheran College. The Rams will play at 4:30 PM on September 26th, in Mankato, MN.
