MANKATO, MINNESOTA - Today, NCU women's soccer team continued UMAC play with a road matchup against Bethany Lutheran College at Scheels Field. The Rams created a pair of shots on goal but were unable to break through in a 0-7 loss. Chloe Bjorlin and Madeline Lowe each put a shot on frame for NCU, while goalkeepers Olivia Johnlouis and Bella Sorbo combined for eight saves.
FIRST HALF
North Central was tested early, but Johnlouis helped keep the match scoreless with saves in the fourth and sixth minutes. The Rams generated their first offensive opportunity in the 11th minute when Bjorlin put a shot on goal, forcing a save. Johnlouis continued to hold strong in net, adding three more saves before the 28th minute as NCU kept the match scoreless through the opening 30 minutes.
The Rams' defensive effort held until the 31st minute, when the first goal of the match broke the scoreless tie. Two more goals followed late in the half, sending North Central into halftime trailing 3-0. Despite facing 13 shots and seven corner kicks during the opening 45 minutes, Johnlouis recorded five first-half saves to help limit the damage.
SECOND HALF
North Central continued to battle coming out of halftime. Johnlouis made another save in the 51st minute before Madeline Lowe created one of NCU's best opportunities of the afternoon in the 61st minute, putting a shot toward the top of the goal that was saved. Johnlouis added another stop in the 66th minute before the Rams conceded their fourth goal in the 69th.
Sorbo moved into goal for the final 24 minutes of the match and made her first save in the 76th minute. NCU continued working defensively through the closing stretch, but three more goals pushed the final margin to 7-0. The Rams finished with two shots, both of which were on goal, while facing 27 total shots and 15 shots on goal.
In goal, Johnlouis played the opening 65:46 and recorded seven saves, while Sorbo played the final 24:14 and added one save.
