Matt Farland

Matt Farland

Farland is currently in his 2nd year as assistant coach for the NCU baseball program. Matt most recently worked at Crown College as an assistant baseball coach. He got his start as a volunteer coach in 2017, which led to his promotion to a paid assistant coach in 2018.

During his time at Crown, Farland's team made the conference tournament for the first time in school history in 2018-2019, coming off a 6-22 record the previous season. They made the tournament again in 2020-2021. Coach Farland was the lead hitting coach and infield defense coach from 2018-2022 and had major statistical improvements in all key stats during his time there.

At the same time as he was coaching at Crown College, Farland was also a Coach and Private Instructor at Pine Tar Academy in Minnetonka, Minnesota. Here, Farland helped mostly with youth baseball players specializing in hitting and infield defense. He served as a head coach and assistant coach for many of the fall teams organized, ranging from 13u to 18u.

Coach Farland is no stranger to North Central as he graduated from NCU in 2013 and played on the baseball team from 2010-2012. He was NCU's starting 2nd baseman and outfielder for those two seasons. In both seasons, NCU was the NCCAA regional champion.

Before Farland came to NCU, he was at Iowa Wesleyan College (University) from 2008-2010. Before that, he went to high school at Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa from 2004-2008.

Farland now resides in Eden Prairie and started his coaching duties at North Central on August 1st.
