Michael Ramirez

Just prior to the 2019-20 school year, Michael Ramirez joined the NCU baseball coaching staff as an assistant coach. Through his dynamic and well-versed baseball coaching background, Ramirez oversees and focuses his efforts on the development of hitters.

Ramirez has accumulated over 15 years of baseball coaching experience in his lifetime prior to joining NCU. He formerly was an assistant coach for Paul Babcock, another coach on the Rams baseball staff at Alta Sierra Intermediate. The coaching pair won multiple league championships every year that they coached together.

After coaching at Alta Sierra, coach Ramirez moved on to coach at Clovis North high school in Clovis, CA until last year when he was hired to be the hitting coach for NCU. In addition to being the hitting coach for the Rams, Ramirez works full time as a personal baseball instructor in Fresno, CA and is owner of a baseball performance business called “The Swing Shop,” where he just opened his own training facility. When he is not doing personal lessons, he is the head coach of a travel team in Fresno called the Marlins. Ramirez also played college baseball in Fresno during the 1980's. He first played for Fresno City Community College where he led the state of California in hitting at the junior college level. After his two years at the community college, Ramirez transferred to West Coast Christian College where he played alongside Paul Babcock. At West Coast, he helped his team be nationally ranked and led the nation in hitting. He was named national player of the year both years at West Coast and hit over .500 his senior year while only making one error at second base.

Prior to playing baseball in college, he played running back and was the starting shortstop at Clovis high school. He currently lives in Fresno, CA and will be making the trip to Minneapolis during multiple points throughout the offseason and regular season.
