Tyler Engel

Tyler Engel is entering his second season as an assistant coach for the men's basketball program. He is currently a graduate assistant for the rams, pursuing a degree in Strategic Leadership.

Prior to coaching the Rams, Engel graduated from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota with a degree in Sport Management and Business Intelligence & Analytics in 2021. While attending, he was a member of the men’s basketball team for 3 years. As a Junior, SMU participated in and won the first MIAC playoff game in their program’s history. Engel was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court in his final 2 years with the cardinals.

Engel’s first year of college was spent as a redshirt at Viterbo University, an NAIA school located in La Crosse, WI.

Engel is a native of Edgar, Wisconsin, and a 2017 graduate of Edgar High School where he helped lead the team to 2 conference championships. He was an all-conference player multiple years and a captain on the basketball team, as well as a participant in the WBCA All-Star game.
