Lee Owen is in his first season as an assistant coach for the men's soccer program at North Central University. With a strong background as both a player and coach, Owen brings a wealth of experience in developing goalkeepers at various levels.
After finishing his college playing career, Owen began his coaching journey as an assistant/goalkeepers coach at Coe College for the men's soccer team during the 2018-2019 season. He then moved internationally to Beijing before returning to the United States and joining the Macalester College men's soccer coaching staff for the 2020-2021 season. After taking a break to pursue law school, Owen returned to coaching with the Minneapolis City Soccer Club in 2024 and 2025, where he worked with goalkeepers at the USL2/UPSL level. Currently, in addition to his coaching, Owen is a practicing attorney at a small law firm that focuses on consumer protection class actions, where he represents large groups of individuals against companies, including mortgage lenders and internet casinos.
Lee played college soccer at Amherst College from 2014-2018. Owen was part of the team that won the 2015 NCAA Division III National Championship, helping the team establish a legacy of defensive strength. During his time at Amherst, Owen played 24 games with 21 starts in goal. He totaled 86 saves for the Mammoths. He graduated in 2018 with a degree in Black Studies.
Owen obtained his undergraduate degree in Black Studies from Amherst in 2018. He went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota Law School in May 2024 and is now a practicing attorney specializing in consumer protection class actions.
A native of the New York City area, Owen brings a diverse perspective to coaching, combining his soccer experience with his legal background to foster a disciplined, thoughtful, and well-rounded approach to goalkeeper development.
