Roger Schliewe is entering his 2nd year as an assistant softball coach for North Central.
Most recently, Coach Schliewe was the assistant coach at Bryant and Stratton College in Waukesha, Wisconsin. In just 3 years, he led the team from winning 12 games to averaging 35 wins per season and qualified for the Division 2 Junior College National Tournament in Alabama.
In 1991, Roger started the Wisconsin Bandits club softball program and the Bandits have become one of the elite clubs in the Midwest. In his 33 years with the Bandits, he has coached kids who have gone on to play NCAA D1, D2, and D3 as well as JC and NAIA. The Bandits have had over 150 athletes go on and play D1 or D2 and have won several National Championships in USSSA, USA, PGF, and ASA sanctioned tournaments.
Schliewe started his coaching career in 1989 with Horicon High School in Horicon, Wisconsin. As a head coach at Horicon, Roger has the 2nd most wins in Wisconsin High School history with 617 total wins. During that span, Schliewe coached several D1 and D2 players including kids that went on to play in the Big 10, Summit, Horizon, Missouri Valley, and Ohio Valley Conferences. In Roger’s time at Horicon, they won 20 conference championships, 4 state championships, was a 2-time state runner-up, and 10 state tournament appearances.
Roger joins North Central University as an assistant coach and will oversee the pitchers and call in-game pitches. He brings a lot of experience and knowledge to DowntownU and will have a big impact on the recruiting process. It’s a new beginning for Rams softball.
