LaDerica Paul joined the North Central University (NCU) women's basketball staff as an assistant coach in January of 2021. A former NCAA Division I basketball player at
Texas A&M - Corpus Christi and the
University of Missouri - Kansas City, Paul brings a plethora of basketball playing and coaching experience to the Rams.
Paul started her competitive playing career at Dallas Skyline High School 2015, where she led the Raiders women's basketball team to the 6A state championship in her senior campaign. During both her junior and senior years, Paul was selected to the First Team All-District list. She was also awarded Defensive Player of the Year in 2015.
After Dallas Skyline High School, Paul was recruited to play for the University of Missouri, Kansas City, where shortly after her freshman season she transferred to play for the Islanders of Texas A&M University in 2017. After redshirting the year she transferred, Paul went on the next two years to appear in 37 games for the Islanders. Her playing career for Texas A&M - Corpus Christi is highlighted by a performance against Central Arkansas in 2018, where scored 26 points and tallied 12 rebounds, seven steals and five assists. Her time in an Islander uniform included being selected as a two-time team captain, and being the recipient for the Lee Denmon III "Islander Way" Leadership Excellence Award.
Upon graduating from Texas A&M - Corpus Christi in 2019 with a bachelor of science in psychology, Paul decided to stay with the university by accepting a graduate assistant coaching position, where she gained experienced in coaching defense, scouting, and individual player development. In December of 2020, Paul finished her graduate assistant position with the Islanders women's basketball program and received her master's degree in public administration with a concentration in public management.
In addition to her position as an assistant coach for the women's basketball team, Paul also serves as the Assistant of Athletic Operations at North Central. Outside of her professional life, Paul enjoys shopping, working out, and spending time with her family. The Dallas, Texas native currently resides in Minneapolis.
