Leah Barnes came to NCU in the fall of 2022 to assistant coach the women's basketball team.
Barnes is from Richfield, Minnesota where she graduated from Richfield High School in 2015. After graduating, Barnes went to North Dakota State College of Science from 2015-2017. During that time, she played Volleyball and Basketball. Both seasons were very successful. Her volleyball team won the MON-DAK conference freshman and sophomore year and basketball won conference and districts her Sophomore year.
In 2019, Barnes's basketball team also made an appearance at the NJCAA national tournament. In 2019, Barnes graduated from NDSCS with an Associate in Liberal Arts. After graduating from NDSCS, she went to Northwestern State University and continued playing basketball there. In 2019, Barnes graduated from NSU with a bachelor's in Psychology. After moving back to Minnesota, she began coaching for 43 Hoops in 2020 and currently coaches an 8th-grade team. From 2020-2022, Barnes coached at Delasalle High School as the JV women's basketball coach.
Barnes currently resides in Minneapolis where she looks to continue growing in her coaching career.
