MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The North Central University Rams were victim to unfortunate timing as they ran into a hungry University of Northwestern team coming off its first conference loss in nearly five years. The Rams were unable to get anything going against the ranked opponents and found themselves overmatched in the three set loss. On the evening, only freshman
Jaselyn Anderson would be able to finish with a positive hitting percentage while the Rams defense was subjected to an onslaught of heavy hitting led by Northwestern's Mariah Halvorsen.Â
Match Vitals:
- Although the Rams suffered a three set loss, they did show an improvement over their previous encounter with UNW by scoring in double digits all three sets.
- The Rams were outhit all night long (14 kills for NCU versus 34 kills by UNW).
Match Recap:
- The match was fairly well controlled by UNW against the visiting Rams as they never allowed more than 16 points in a set. NCU players struggled to hit against the long front court of UNW and were consistently stuffed at the net. First year player Emily DiGiorgio would lead all Rams with four kills on the evening, while Rachel Beckman and Maddie Stocker would provide a combined 21 digs for the Rams.Â
