MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Rams struggled to get things going during the UMAC opening weekend, dropping three straight matches against both UW-Superior and Bethany Lutheran. Both matches saw the Rams against tough UMAC opponents, however, it was self-inflicted wounds that made it hard to compete. On the day, the Rams had 40 errors while dropping every set they played.
Match Vitals:
• The 40 errors on the day were a season high for two matches.
• Jaselyn Anderson led the Rams on the day with kill percentages in the positive for both matches.
• Defensively, the Rams finished with 13 total blocks against Bethany Lutheran.
Match Recaps:
• During the first match of the day, the Rams were out-played by UW-Superior. The closest set of the match would be the third though, showing grit and competitiveness to keep working. The Rams lost by scores of 25-11, 25-14, and 25-18.
• Against Bethany Lutheran, the Rams showed that they have the capacity to play with teams as they dropped their first set in close fashion, 25-21. During the next set, a Bethany run at the end of the match would lead to a final score of 25-19. In the final set of the evening for the Rams, fatigue showed its head a little bit as the Rams would eventually fall 25-14.
Key Performers:
• Freshman Jaselyn Anderson had one of her better hitting days of the year as she finished the day with eight kills.
• Bekah Parker put together a solid defensive effort finishing with 15 assists and 16 digs on the day.
