Cougars Comeback to Defeat the Rams at Home

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -  The North Central University (NCU) men's basketball team played host to the University of Minnesota Morris (UMM) Cougars for an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) contest. A high scoring affair ended up in favor of the visitors as the Cougars took down the Rams 100-85.

  • The Cougars used a 21-2 run to mount the second half comeback.
  • The Cougars outshot the Rams beyond the arc 50 percent (14-for-28) to the Rams 40 percent (10-for-25)
  • The rebounding battle was even a 30 rebounds a piece.
 
Game Recap
  • A high scoring contest between the Rams and the Cougars started early and often. The Rams scored a season high 55 points in the first half. The Rams were led in the first half by senior Jared High and freshman Micah Filer  with 16 and 18 points respectively. The duo combined to shoot 82 percent (14-for-17) from the field in the first half. The Cougars used a 10-2 early in the second half to bring the game to 63-56. UMM continued to claw at the Rams lead with the score of 69-63 with 10 minutes remaining in the game. UMM went on a 21-2 run in 4 minutes to give them a lead of 81-71. Once the Cougars grabbed the lead they never looked back. The Cougars got the road victory by a score of 100-85. Micah Filer led all scorers with 29 points.

  • The Rams will make the trip to Ashland, Wisconsin for a UMAC match-up with the Lumberjacks of Northland College on January 9th. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
