After a scoreless first half from both squads, Crown was able to turn the tide in their favor in period number two as they scored two goals to pull away for their first conference victory of the season.
Game Vitals
- The Rams recorded 17 total shots
- NCU corralled 12 of the Storm's attempts for saves
- Crown earns their first UMAC win of the season.
Game Recap
The Rams were aggressive early in this one, taking the first few shots of the contest. Although the NCU offensive was pressing, Crown continued to ride the wave answering with a few opportunities of their own, but both clubs failed to come away with any points on the board. After the two threw traded punches for the first 45 minutes, they each headed to the break empty handed. With neither team able to find separation, the momentum continued to hang in the balance. Crown, seeing an opportunity to open up the game, found the back of the net in the 58th minute to steal the 1-0 lead. NCU immediately searched for an answer but were unable to find one. Instead, it was the Storm adding some insurance to their lead in the 72nd minute giving them enough of a cushion in this one as they ran away with a hard fought 2-0 victory.
Next Up
NCU will have a few days off before they are back in action as they are set to square off with the Sabercats of Maranatha Baptist University on Tuesday, October 22nd. This matchup is set for a 2:00 p.m. kickoff from Elliot Park Field.
