Rams climb back from two goal deficit, earn first win of the season

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- North Central University (NCU) battled the Sabercats of Maranatha Baptist University (MBU) in an exciting home non-conference matchup. The Sabercats busted out to an early lead with two goals in the first 25 minutes of the contest. With their backs against the wall in an early hole, the Rams turned up the offensive aggression. North Central answered with two quick goals to knot the game back up in the first half at 2-2. With just 12 minutes remaining forward, Brianna Peters, broke through the Sabercat's defense for break away goal that proved to be just enough for teh Rams to edge Maranatha 3-2 for their first win of the season.

Game Recap
The Sabercats shrugged off the cold weather with a hot start, finding the back of the net in just the 8th minute of the contest. MBU continued to put their foot on the gas, adding to their lead in the 25th minute, putting the Rams in a bind. NCU immediately ramped up the offensive pressure forcing the Sabercats back on their heels. The Rams took advantage of of there opportunities, finding an answer for the Sabercat's attack just four minutes after falling behind two scores to inch back into the match. With the omentum swinging in the Ram's favor, Annika Wollner scored to knot the game up at 2-2. After coming out of the break with sound newfound rejuvenation, the Rams attack did not falter. NCU continued to find opportunities, but could nto quite capitalize until the 78th minute when Brianna Peters squirted a roller past the goalie to steal the late 3-2 lead. With seconds ticking off the clock, NCU locked up the Sabercats, holding them at bay as they closed out the match for the 3-2 victory.

The Rams will have a quick turnaround as they jump back into conference play tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m. for a matchup with the Vikings at Bethany Lutheran College.
