Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleyball falls to #1 UMAC seed Cougars

MORRIS, Minn. -- After a short stint of competing on their home floor, the North Central University (NCU) volleyball team headed back on the road Saturday afternoon where they squared off with UMAC foe, the University of Minnesota, Morris (UMM) Cougars. The Rams found tough sledding in Morris, as the Cougars managed to pave the path to victory in three straight sets (25-2, 25-15, and 25-13).

Game Recap

The Rams' resilience and determination to keep fighting after a slow start holds the storyline in this one. With a long trip to visit the current #1 UMAC seeded UMM on their home floor, the Rams were unable to swing any momentum in their favor early on in each set. Although NCU found ways to claw points from a fundamentally-sounded Cougar squad in the second and third set, the Rams couldn't find any offensive opportunities to capitalize on. The Cougars were able to rely on their versatility and depth at each position to give the Rams different looks on their continuing offensive attack throughout the match. Even though the Rams will head back to Minneapolis without the win, they will look to persevere and finish their last few matches of the season on a high note.

Key Performer(s):
  • Hallie Fuglestad flew all over the floor to record 15 digs against a few powerful Cougar offensive hitters.
Looking Ahead

NCU will return to their home floor with a 9-11 overall record (1-4 UMAC), where they are set to clash against the Northland College Lumbjerjills. In contest that saw the Rams unable to grab the win against the Lumbjerills in Ashland, WI earlier in the season, NCU will look to get knock them off on their own floor this time around. The Rams are still in contention to grab a UMAC playoff spot with three crucial UMAC matches still on their schedule.
