TUCSON, Ariz. – North Central University (NCU) was back in action with a doubleheader against the Tornados of Brevard College on Tuesday evening. NCU found themselves in a whole early in game one as Brevard knocked in six runs in the first inning. The Rams battled back to answer with three runs of their own in the second inning, but Brevard continued to roll as they took the first game by a score of 11-3. The Tornados brought their late game momentum from game contest into the second game as they racked up 14 hits en route to a 12-0 victory over the Rams.
GAME ONE RECAP
The Tornados got to starter Emma Bushey (0-3) early in the contest scoring six runs in their first time at the plate. After Ali Cornelius reached first thanks to an error, the offense started to get rolling for the Rams. Aliyah Caples Becker knocked in the first two runs of the night for the Rams and Brooke Rayfield followed it up with and RBI of her own to close the gap to just a 6-3 lead for the Tornados. Bushey managed to hold Brevard scoreless until the fourth inning, but the Tornados locked back in offensively late in the ballgame. Thanks to a three run 5th inning, Brevard managed to put more separation between them and the Rams eventually propelling them to an 11-3 victory over the Rams.
GAME TWO RECAP
The sun went down for the start of game two, as did the temperature, but Brevard's batters did not cool off from the plate. Emma Bushey took the mound once again for the Rams, but still could not find much of an answer for the Tornado hitters. Brevard scored at least 3 runs in 3 different innings to build their lead to 12, eventually toping NCU by a score of 12-0 by way of their 14 total team hits in five innings. The Rams finished the second contest with four total hits from four different players.
