NEW ULM, Minn. -- Under sunny skies in New Ulm, Minnesota, the North Central University (NCU) Men's soccer team battled with the Knights of Martin Luther College (MLC) in a non-conference matchup between two familiar programs. After putting themselves in front within the first five minutes of the match, the Knights continued to build an early lead that propelled them to a 6-0 victory over the Rams.
Game Vitals
- The Rams registered 19 total shots on the afternoon (5 on goal)
- NCU finished with 11 saves
- NCU falls to 1-4 before conference play begins next week
Game Recap
The Knights jumped out to an early lead, finding the back of the net in the 4th minute from the foot of Luke Meihack that was set up by a Knight's corner kick. Just minutes after falling behind in the contest the Rams looked to answer the Knights early goal with one of their own, but their two shot attempts were sent back by the Knight's goalkeeper, holding the Rams scoreless for the time being. While the Rams were unable to find movement on the scoreboard, the Knights continued to find teammates in positions to score. MLC added goals in the 12th and 14th minute to push their lead to 3. With their backs against the wall, the Rams started to find answer for that Knight's attack, but they could not create any offensive momentum throughout the match. After holding the Knights scoreless for 65 straight minutes, MLC broke through for 3 more goals in the final 11 minutes to pull away with the 6-0 victory.
