Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Falls to the Scots on the Road

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The North Central University (NCU) Men's Soccer team traveled to Coe College for the Coe College Kickoff Tournament along with Monmouth College, Lakeland College, and the host, Coe. Game one displayed a matchup with NCU, the home team, and the Scots of Monmouth College. Both teams were quiet in the early going in this one, but after settling in, the Scots seemed to find their footing. NCU struggled to find many opportunities while Monmouth continued to capitalize on theirs. After scoring their first goal in the 15th minute, they tacked on three more en route to the 4-0 victory over the Rams.

  • This match was the first career matchup for the two teams
  • The Rams fall to 1-2 on the year with the loss

Game Recap

  • After the initial whistle, neither team could find much separation. The Scots were the first to garner a few scoring opportunities, but they were unable to turn those into goals early on in the match. After settling in, Monmouth began to find more and more opportunities thanks to some efficient ball movement. In the 15th minute, their was finally some action on the scoreboard. Unfortunately, it was the Scots who were able to capitalize on one of their opportunities, turning a beautiful drop off pass into a ball sent to the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. With their foot on the gas, Monmouth was bale to add to their lead with another goal coming midway through period number two to push the lead to 2-0. The Rams pushed to try and answer before the break, but their attempts proved to be not enough as they failed to make any noise on the scoreboard. After not finding many opportunities in the first 45 minutes, NCU looked to flip the script in the second half. The Rams found themselves with a few scoring opportunities throughout period, but again were unable to find any points. With the Rams failing to find an offensive spark, the Scots continued to pull further away as they tacked on two more goals in the second half to take down the Rams with a 4-0 victory.
