Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Rams secure first home win over Sabercats

MINNEAPOLIS, -- In the first Rams home athletic event of the year hosted on the North Central University (NCU) campus, women's basketball took the floor against the Maranatha Baptist University (MBU) Sabercats in a non-conference contest on Friday night. NCU managed to knock off the NCCAA powerhouse by a final score of 76-59.

Game Recap
The Rams dominated from tip-off, holding the lead for all but 9 seconds of the competition. Led by Jocelyn Talso (Blaine, MN, Spring Lake Park High School) who finished with 16 points going 6-11 from the field. Along with her older sister, Joelle Talso (Ramsey, MN, Spring Lake Park High School) helped propel the Rams to victory with a solid 12 points and 5 rebounds. NCU went an impressive 44% from 3-point land. The Sabercat's inside game could not outpace the Rams ranged offensive. Emily DiGiorgio (Ironwood, MI, Luther L. Wright High School) was dominating the paint for NCU going 8-11 finishing with 16 points. Her presence inside left MBU's defense overwhelmed and unable to keep up in this competition.

The Rams bench also had a great night. Everyone saw the court contributed a total of 11 points. The incoming class of freshmen had a strong showing in the first home game of the 2020-21 season. These freshmen seem like they can only get better as time goes on, just like the Rams shooting percentage, shooting a rough 27% in the 1st, 44% in the second, 46% in the 3rd, and 50% from the field in the final quarter.

Key Performer(s)
  • Jocelyn Talso finished with 16 points going 6-11 from the field, leading the Rams in tonight's game.
  • Emily DiGiorgio also recorded 16 in back-to-back dominant performances.
  • Joelle Talso had a monster of a game, ending the night with 12 points and leading the team with 5 rebounds.
