MANKATO, Minn. -- Finishing up a stint of road games, the North Central University (NCU) volleyball team traveled to Bethany Lutheran College (BLC) for another
Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) matchup. The Rams played tough against the Vikings but fell in three close games (25-24, 25-23, 25-19).
Game Recap
It was very much a team effort tonight as many of the Rams were on the scoreboard with similar numbers. Four of NCU's players,
Hailey Lerfald (Wanamingo, MN, Kenyon-Wanamingo High School),
Jaselyn Anderson (Farmington, MN, Christian Life Academy),
Makayla Krohnberg (Blaine, MN, Blaine High School), and
Morgan Delange (Corsica, SD, Corsica-Stickney High School), each had six kills. These four dominated the net and worked well together to keep the hits coming at the Vikings. Freshman setter
Grace Brigson (West Salem, WI, West Salem High School) did a fantastic job setting up these hitters, having 23 assists on the night.
Hannah Fischer (Kenyon, MN, Kenyon Wanamingo High School) was great in the back court, directing those around her and displayed excellent passes skills with 15 digs in just three games. Although the game only went to three sets, these sets were very close and could have went in either teams' direction. In the first two sets, the Vikings would get slightly ahead and then the Rams would catch up and get a lead of their own, making it very back and forth. However, in the third set, NCU was able to get a substantial lead, 18-10 at one point. But the Vikings slowly caught back up and eventually won the set and the game. Nonetheless, the Rams battled hard and didn't just give the game away; they made BLC earn it.
