MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The North Central University (NCU) volleyball team hosted Northland College (NC) for a very special senior night. The Rams easily defeated the Jills three sets to one (25-17, 11-25, 25-23, 25-16) in the
Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) matchup.
Game Recap
The game started out very back and forth with a couple of good volleys here and there. The Rams were able to pull ahead in the first set winning by seven points. However, the Jills came back in the second set very strong and won their only set of the night. The third set was similar to the first in the many lead changes and momentum swings. After a service error by NC, it was game point for the Rams and
Morgan Delange (Corsica, SD, Corsica-Stickney High School) hit it home with a kill right passed the Jills' blockers, sending NCU passed NC in the third set. And the final set was fairly simple for the Rams as they won by eight points, dominating on the net and in the back court.
The Rams were able to honor their three seniors,
Jaselyn Anderson (Farmington, MN, Christian Life Academy),
Emily DiGiorgio (Ironwood, MI, Luther L. Wright High School), and
Hannah Fischer (Kenyon, MN, Kenyon Wanamingo High School) in tonight's game. In turn, the three each played spectacular games and aided a lot in the win.
Anderson had four kills, one service ace, and three blocks.
DiGiorgio had eight kills and one block. And libero
Fischer had 12 digs and two service aces. These seniors will be sorely missed in the upcoming season for their talent, leadership, and character. With the win over the Jills, the Rams completed the sweep of NC this season.
Key Performers
- Makayla Krohnberg (Blaine, MN, Blaine High School) led the Rams with nine kills and 13 digs.
- Freshman Hailey Lerfald (Wanamingo, MN, Kenyon-Wanamingo High School) dominated the net with six blocks and six kills.
