MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- Coming off an close, exciting game the previous day, the North Central University (NCU) men's soccer team hosted the University of Wisconsin Superior (UWS) for another
Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) game. With a large enthusiastic crowd, the Rams showed off their talent throughout the 90 minutes, but were unable to overtake the Yellowjackets with a final score of 8-0.
Game Vitals
- There were four yellow cards given, three to the Rams and one to the Yellowjackets.
- Like yesterday's game, NCU was down a few core players due to injuries.
Game Recap
The notable athleticism and physicality of the Rams was seen in today's match as they headed into their third game of the week. Any exhaustion or soreness was not evident in how NCU played, sprinting after each ball and holding their own against the Yellowjackets in trying to win the ball. Freshman
Diego Zavala-Varela (Brooklyn Park, MN, Park Center Senior High School) led the attack for the Rams, with two shots which were each on goal. Supporting him were midfielders
Jerad Buse (Kearney, NE, Kearney High School),
Adam Vang (Green Bay, WI, Green Bay Southwest High School),
Anthony Medina (Elk River, MN), and
Alex Loukinen (Little Falls, MN, Little Falls High School). This group of offense passed the ball well between each other, creating many chances on the attack. In the first half,
Sam Thurston (Crystal, MN, Robbinsdale Cooper) played in goal for the Rams saving nine of UWS's shots. In the second half, NCU switched to goalkeeper
Luke Matteucci (Albuquerque, NM, La Cueva High School), who had three saves of his own. Although the score wasn't what the Rams wanted, they never quit and are already getting ready to play the Yellowjackets again.
Looking Ahead
Rest for NCU will have to wait as they have another three game week scheduled. This coming Tuesday the Rams will head over to the University of Northwestern for a 7:30 pm start. All fans are encouraged to tune into official Rams
