MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The North Central University (NCU) men's basketball faced off with Central Christian College of the Bible (CCCB) in their sixth matchup of the season. With a close first half, the Rams pulled away in the second half with a comfortable lead to best the Saints 94-74.
Game Recap
NCU looked for their second win of the season as they took the court on the Friday night game. The Rams traded baskets with the Saints in the first ten minutes, but CCCB went on a little run halfway through the first period. The Saints gained some momentum, but NCU fought to gain it back, not wanting to get stuck in a hole. With three three points in a row, two by
Griffin Trull (Sacramento, CA, Sacramento Adventist Academy) and one byÂ
Justin Castro (Kissimmee, FL, Gateway High School), cut down the score to six with three minutes to go in the first half. The Rams got within two to end the half because of seven consecutive points from
Tanner Holtman (Aurora, CO, Grandview High School) and another three from
Castro.
The second half was similar to the first except in favor of the Rams. The teams went back and forth to start, however it was the Rams who pulled away this time, going on an 18-0 run to completely demolish any momentum the Saints had. This lead was aided by a couple three's from
Erik Lange (Ellsworth, WI, Ellsworth High School) and more points from the hands of
Holtman. NCU's defense stepped it up forcing 12 turnovers and getting 10 steals in the second half alone. The Rams were able to capitalize off their defense and build a comfortable lead with ten minutes to go, having a 25 point lead over CCCB at one point. NCU finished the game strong and were unwavering as they closed out the match with the win.
