MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The North Central University (NCU) finished their weekend play with a nonconference matchup against Finlandia University (FU). The Rams were steady and poised throughout the waves of the Lions and advanced to 8-0 with the 102-74 win.
Game Recap
NCU got off to a great start with a 7-0 run with points from
Aubrey Robinson (Colorado Springs, CO, Sierra High School) and an and-1 basket from
Joelle Talso (Ramsey, MN, Spring Lake Park High School). The Lions quickly regrouped to get within one point of the Rams. But NCU's offense too flowed nicely which either resulted in points or a foul on FU. The Lions sent the Rams to the line a multitude of times in which the NCU shooters were able to capitalize off of, shooting over 80% from the free throw line. The Rams continued to push the ball in transition eventually earning a 21 point lead in the second quarter. FU managed to slip in a run, getting within eight at halftime.
The teams traded baskets coming into the third quarter, but not for long. The Ram's defense held strong against anything the Lion's had to throw at them. And on the other end of the court,
Kadija Conteh (London, UK, City of London Academy) started to find holes in FU's defense as she sped her way to the rim. Otherwise,
Robinson knocked down shot after shot as she shot 6-8 from downtown, scoring 33 points. As a whole, NCU shot 53% from three and an impressive 83% in the fourth quarter. The Rams did not waver for a second as they stretched the led to 36 in the fourth, proving to be too much for the Lions.
The Rams continue their historic season moving to 8-0. This is also their fourth 100 point game of the game as they average 89 points a game. As conference play begins next week, any
Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) the Rams seemed to be clicking on all cylinders offensively.Â
