Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's soccer take a loss on the road

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. -- The North Central University (NCU) women's soccer team looked to carry the momentum they ended the previous night's game with and transfer over into their matchup with Crown College (CC). The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) game was very physical in nature resulting in lots of energy and excitement. The Storm was able to take this game with a final score of 3-0.

Game Vitals
  • The Rams did not allow the Storm score in the second half.
  • NCU more than doubled their shots from the first half to the second.

Game Recap

Having already taken on the Storm earlier in the season, the Rams knew what to expect: lots of physicality. And they were not disappointed. It was a gritty and scrappy match that resulted in 26 total fouls for both teams. Nonetheless, NCU held their composure through the shoves, the talking, and the multiple no or miss calls. This type of play changed how the game looked, but the Rams were able to adjust well and made some great decisions down the stretch on how to attack the goal.

Despite being down 3-0 at halftime, NCU played like it was the national title game. It was beautiful and exciting to watch each player of the Ram's squad battle and give it their all in the second half. A number of players stepped up in newer positions, due to injuries, including Leanna Kyle (Blaine, MN, Blaine High School) and Lideeya Lwoy (Willmar, MN, Willmar Senior High School). Arien Fritts (Ham Lake, MN, Fritts Homeschool Academy) was back in goal, much to the team's joy, and had a great night with 12 saves. On the offensive end, Alexis Orlando (Rosemount, MN, Rosemount High School) had five shots, followed by Hannah Grubbs (Mantua, OH, Newbury High School) with three. The consistency of this women's soccer team to play with 100% effort all the time is a testament to their own character and the leadership of their coach, Colette Montgomery. The Rams are ready for anyone who comes their way and are itching to score some goals.

Looking Ahead

NCU gets only a few days to rest up and heal from some bumps and bruises as their next game is slated for this Tuesday against Bethany Lutheran College (BLC). The UMAC game will take place at BLC at 7:30 pm. All fans are encouraged to tune into official Rams Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter pages for updates on the women's soccer team and more important information.
