Volleyball Cruises to Two Wins in Triangular

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The North Central University (NCU) Rams Women's Volleyball team swept two NCCAA opponents in their home triangular on Saturday afternoon. The Rams hosted the Trinity Bible College Lions and the Oak Hills Christian Wolfpack on Saturday afternoon. The Rams convincingly defeated Trinity Bible 3-0 before completing the sweep over Oak Hills Christian to finish the day 2-0.  

Match 1 Recap: 

The afternoon's first game did not disappoint, with the Rams jumping out to an early lead before downing the Lions 25-14. In game two, North Central remained in control, cruising to a 25-15 victory. Game three showed the grit of the Lions as they put up a fight before the Rams were able to close out the match with a score of 25-20, securing their first win of the season. 

Match 2 Recap: 

In match two, the Rams stormed on to an early lead, led by Alexandria Taylor (Milwaukee, WI, Milwaukee Lutheran High School), who served 24 straight points with eight service aces en route to a 25-0 victory in game one. Both stats are new school records for the blue and gold. Game two had the Wolfpack jump out to an early 4-2 lead before the Rams took control. Oak Hills Christian showed resilience, but the Rams were able to hold on, finishing the game with a score of 25-12. NCU closed out the match with a 25-4 victory. 

Key Performers: 

  • Emily DiGiorgio (Ironwood, MI, Luther L. Wright High School) led all attackers with 14 kills. 
  • Hannah Fischer (Kenyon, MN, Kenyon Wanamingo High School) was a defensive force in the back row with 13 digs  
  • Freshmen Grace Brigson and Cara Pence (Litchfield, MN, Litchfield Senior High School) shined in their early careers with 29 and 10 assists, respectively.
