MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- After quite a successful weekend, the North Central University (NCU) volleyball team looked to repeat that success tonight as they took on Hamline University. The nonconference matchup was held at home with a full crowd giving the Rams a great atmosphere. The Pipers were able to overpower NCU's strong effort in three games (25-11, 25-10, 25-7).
Game Recap
The Rams fought well against the Pipers the whole night. Leading the fight were freshman
Hailey Lerfald (Wanamingo, MN, Kenyon-Wanamingo High School) and sophomore
Bria Reiser (Berlin, WI, Berlin High School) with three kills each. These hits were magnificently set up by NCU's setter
Grace Brigson (West Salem, WI, West Salem High School). The Rams had great chemistry beginning in the cheers from the subs to the great effort from the back row to the dominance by the players at the net.
Lerfald and
Cara Pence (Litchfield, MN, Litchfield Senior High School) showed some of that dominance through their blocking of the Pipers' hitters. Plenty of the Rams aided in the defensive effort, specifically
Faith Langmade (Elk River, MN, Elk River High School) with seven digs followed closely by
Makayla Krohnberg (Blaine, MN, Blaine High School) with six of her own. NCU always stuck together, huddling after each play, despite the scoreboard. Their character was on full display tonight and the Rams look forward to getting back onto the court this weekend.
