In close game throughout, NCU was able to hold off TBC with strong defensive efforts. The final of the contest would fall at 62-54 in favor of the blue and gold.
Â
To start the first quarter, both teams were neck in neck with shots sinking on both sides of the court. Toward the end of the first quarter, NCU went on a hot streak, hitting four uncontested buckets and leading the game 17-6. Trinity then responded with their biggest run of the night, executing a 12-0 run against NCU resulting in a Ram's timeout at 17-18. North Central then bounced back, ending the first half with 3 impressive three-pointers and a score of 32-26.
Â
Trinity fought hard to gain the lead in the third quarter, getting as close as a single possession, but it was Ram's three-point shot that kept the Lions at bay. NCU hit 9 threes throughout the night, compared to TBC's four. Downtown U's high-scoring execution and ability to spread the ball were key factors in tonight's success. NCU's depth was a great resource to the game as well, as the bench scored 23 of the team's 62 points.
