Lincoln, NE -- Buena Vista University (BVU) proved to be to much for North Central University (NCU) in the second game of the Snyder Classic Saturday (11/26) afternoon. After a big win the day before against Nebraska Wesleyan, the Rams were unable to keep that momentum in day two of the weekend tourney. Following the end of 40 minutes of gameplay, the Beavers sat ahead with a final score of 82-76.
In a similar game to yesterday, both teams fought hard and the game remained close throughout the contest. North Central got down early but continued to scratch and claw their way back. After getting down by as much as nine just seven minutes into the game, NCU was able to crawl back to having a one-point lead with four minutes remaining in the half. BVU was able to retain momentum after the solid stretch from the Rams and go into the break with a four-point advantage, with the score sitting at 40-36.
Out of the break, the blue and gold of NCU started off with two quick buckets to take a one-point lead. During the next twelve minutes of action, there were six lead changes between the two teams with the lead for either squad never being larger than five points. With just six minutes left to play, the Beavers broke what was a 60-60 tie to take the lead, which they would not let go of for the remainder of the game. In the next three and a half minutes of action, BVU was able to pull ahead to a nine-point lead. Downtown U made a great effort to claw their way back in the contest's final minutes but were unsuccessful in their final push.
