MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The North Central University (NCU) men's basketball team played Bethany Lutheran College (BLC) looking to move up in the
Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) standings with the last regular season game. The Rams come back in a fashionable way to secure the win over the Vikings 84-83.
Game Recap
It was back and forth game from the start giving lots of energy and excitement to the packed crowd. The Rams collectively shot extremely well, especially from the three point line at 60% in the first half. Four NCU players had threes including four from
Micah Filer (Sacramento, CA, Capital Christian School), two from each of
Cameron Thomas (Aurora, CO, Grandview High School) and
Justin Castro (Kissimmee, FL, Gateway High School), and one from senior guard
Griffin Trull (Sacramento, CA, Sacramento Adventist Academy). Despite this shooting performance, the Vikings stayed ahead due to just two turnovers with a 49-43 first half score.
The Vikings maintained their ten point lead for the first ten minutes of the second half. However, the tides shifted as the momentum went to the Rams. Fueled by even more three's from
Filer and
Castro, NCU got back into the game with five minutes to go and from there it was anyone's game. A couple free throws from
Castro gave the Ram's the lead and two more from
Filer stretched the score in the Ram's favor. Some end of the game lock down defense sealed the deal as NCU walked away with the win on this Saturday night.
The men finish the regular season at 15-10 and 9-5 in the
UMAC. NCU also honored their three seniors,
Micah Filer,
Justin Castro, and
Griffin Trull, for their years of hard work and dedication to the men's basketball team.Â
