Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

UMAC matchup goes to the Storm

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- Bringing back the Big Horn Sheep, the North Central University (NCU) men's basketball fought with rival Crown College (CC) looking for a different outcome after their heartbreaking OT loss previously in the season. The Upper Midwest Athletics Conference (UMAC) matchup went to the Storm with a final score of 85-62.

Game Recap

The Storm got out to an early lead and unfortunately for the Rams, kept it through the first half. NCU played decently, but the rim wasn't their friend in the first twenty minutes. However, it was a friend of CC despite some high pressure from the Rams. The teams were fairly even in rebounds. NCU was able to get out in transition slightly more than the Storm, giving them some momentum and energy. The Rams went into halftime down 44-22, hoping to get their shot to fall in the second half.

The second half was much more competitive as NCU found their shot a little bit more. Micah Filer (Sacramento, CA, Capital Christian School) and Justin Castro (Kissimmee, FL, Gateway High School) gained some much needed baskets for the Rams, as they got some points from both the dribble drive as well as the three. Jonathan Thompson (Kansas City, MO, Park Hill South High School) worked on the inside for NCU also aiding in the score. NCU forced CC to make eight turnovers. The Rams did lessen the lead with about ten minutes remaining, but the gap made by the Storm in the first half was too much for NCU to overcome at the end of the 40 minutes.

Now at an even 10-10 on the season and 4-5 in the UMAC, the Rams are still tied in fourth place in the UMAC with two other teams.
