Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Rams fall on the road in second game of the season

Chicago, Ill. -- The North Central University (NCU) lacrosse team traveled to the windy city to face off against the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). At the end of four periods, the Scarlet Hawks ultimately bested the Rams with a final score of 24-3.

Game Recap

IIT started out strong with a 4-0 first period against NCU. Goalie Braden Davenport (Portage, WI) had some early saves for the Rams, but the Scarlet Hawks overtook the goalie with their volume of shots. NCU made quite a few substitutions in the first period giving lots of players minutes and experience on the field. The Rams ended the first period strong with a faceoff won by Abram Overturf (Janesville, WI). This momentum flowed into the second period when NCU's offense started to heat up. After a few shots at the goal, the ball finally found the back of the net in the eighth minute by the stick of Jackson Smith (Chanhassen, MN), his first collegiate goal. Just four minutes later, Jaydon Crim (Hudson, WI, Hudson High School) added in a second goal, concluding the second period with a 10-2 score in favor of IIT.

The third period was heavily controlled by the Scarlet Hawks as they held possession of the ball for the majority of the 15 minutes. The Rams were able to get two shots off, one from Smith and another from Isaac Griffin (Lakeville, MN), but were unable to combat IIT eight third period goals. This theme flowed into the fourth period as well until NCU gave a little surge of energy on offense in the closing minutes. Just under three minutes remaining in the game, Crim notched his second goal of the game, his third on the season. The Scarlet Hawks did respond with another goal of their own as they completed the game up 24-3.

The Rams falls to 0-2 on the season.
