MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- Hosting their first game in two seasons, the North Central University (NCU) lacrosse played the University of Dubuque (UD) in their first home game of the season. The Rams got some decent shots off the Spartans ultimately prevailed with a final score of 29-0.
Game Recap
The field was lined with NCU supporters as the match between the Rams and Spartans went underway in a sunny spring day. UD got off to a great start with eight goals in just the first period.
Jaydon Crim (Hudson, WI, Hudson High School) recorded two shots in the first period along with another from
Corey Evers (Granger, IA).
Freddy Van Tiem (Stevens Point, WI) cleaned up the midfield picking up a ground ball. The Rams picked up their defense in the second period only allowing four goals. Instead, NCU heavily attacked the goal of the Spartans with four shots from
Jackson Smith (Chanhassen, MN), a couple more from
Crim, and one from
Corban Entinger (Glenwood, IA). The Rams also won a few faceoffs from
Entinger, and
Isaac Griffin (Lakeville, MN) giving them more possession of the ball.
NCU opened the third period well with a faceoff won by
Griffin and two shots from
Keegan Gare (Lakeville, MN). However, UD bounced right back and scored 14 goals as they possessed the ball for the majority of the 15 minutes. The Rams held the Spartans to three goals in the fourth and final period and forced the UD goalie to make a couple tough saves down the stretch.
Smith and
Evers both recorded two more shots in the fourth period. Out of NCU's 16 shots, 11 of them were on goal, really keeping the Spartan goalkeeper on edge. The Rams own goalkeeper,
Braden Davenport (Portage, WI), had 12 saves of his own.
NCU remains winless on the season with a record of 0-3.
