COON RAPIDS, Minn. -- The North Central University (NCU) baseball team takes on the University of Northwestern (UNW) for the third time this season. The number two ranked
Upper Midwest Athletics Conference (UMAC) Eagles were given a hard fight from the Rams throughout most of the game, but the eleven runs in the ninth inning pushed the Eagles over the Rams 19-7.
Game Recap
The first inning went quickly as both teams landed three outs in a row. The Rams defense continued suit in the second inning but did some damage on the offensive end as
Nate Boyer (Tempe, AZ, Seton Catholic High School) hit a homerun that brought in
Kristian Garcia (Las Vegas, LV, Palo Verde High School) along with himself. The Eagles bounced back with a run of their own in the third inning. Following this, NCU scored two more runs in the bottom of the third off another homerun, this time hit by
Jack Parker (Bordentown, NJ, Bordentown Regional High School) in which
Noah Block (Greendale, WI, Greendale Senior High School) also scored. UNW in turn took it up a notch with five runs scored in the fourth inning. NCU was unlucky in the fourth but gained another two runs in the fifth inning.
Julian Encinas (Tucson, AZ, Amphitheater High school)Â singled to center field allowing
Block to cross home plate. Then
Christian Rodriguez (Tuscon, AZ, Catalina Foothills High School) singled to right field allowing
Kyle Huerth (Moorpark, CA, Moorpark High School) to score.Â
Both teams went through a few different pitchers in the game, the Eagles with four and the Rams with five. It was a draw of 0-0 in the sixth inning and tied overall in the game at six. NCU took the lead in the seventh inning when
Parker doubled to center to bring in
Huerth for a run. The eighth inning brought two runs for UNW giving them a lead of one. The Eagles also iced the Rams hitters in the bottom of the eighth letting no one on base. A seemingly close game in the final inning ended quickly after UNW scored eleven runs. NCU put up a valiant effort against the number two ranked team but fell short in the ninth inning.
The Rams fall to 6-10 on the season and 3-7 in the conference with four regular season games left.
Key Performers
- With his home run, Jack Parker recorded three RBI's and one run.
- Nate Boyer also secured a homerun adding in two RBI's and one run.
- Catcher Christian Rodriguez scored one run and had three putouts and two assists.

This coming weekend the Rams have a three game series the
