Rams Take a Commanding Win Over the Lumberjills

Ashland, WI -- The North Central University (NCU) women's basketball team storms back into action on the road against Northland College (NLC) this Friday. NCU proved to be the dominant team against their conference opponent. Rams start the weekend strong, winning 71-57.

At the start of the contest, both teams fought aggressively to gain momentum early on. It was Blue and Gold that was able to string together the first run of the game, building an 8-point lead through the first. Kayla Hola led the charge scoring 8 points in the paint. The Lumberjills hit a small stride in the second quarter before NCU stormed back in keeping a consistent 10-point advantage, scoring a majority of points from the line. Downtown U took a 39-28 lead and lots of momentum into the halftime locker room.

Out of the break, North Central wasted no time opening up the second half with a bucket from Kaitlyn VanderPloeg who had a consistent hot hand all night. The Rams showed their defensive strength, limiting Northland's shots with multiple steals by Mia Mabanag and some strong boards by Caitlyn Ryan. The final quarter solidified a Rams large lead of 20 points. Destiny Hines was a key player off the bench, as she sank 3 three-pointers in 6 minutes of gameplay. NLC fought all the way to the end, but NCU ended up earning a commanding win with a score of 71-57.
