Winthrop, MN — This afternoon, the North Central University (NCU) men's and women's cross country teams wrapped the 2023 season by competing at the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Cross Country Championships at the Winthrop Golf Course. Brycelyn Brewster highlighted the day with her 4th place finish earning her UMAC First Team All-Conference. The women's team finished in 7th place and the men in 8th place overall.
In the men's race, Garrett Converse posted the top time for the Rams with a personal best of 29:29.50, over 15 seconds faster than the previous weekend at the NCCAA North Regional Meet. In his last race as a Ram, senior Michael Herr-Zielke hit another season best in 30:20.70. Freshman David Bjorge managed a time of 31:33.30 finishing 3rd overall for the Rams. North Central Men's Cross country placed 8th overall. The University of Wisconsin Superior Yellowjackets won the men's meet.
To end the meet on a high note, Brycelyn Brewster finished in an impressive time of 23:57.60 a new personal best for the sophomore. For the second year in a row, Brewster earned UMAC First Team All-Conference for her performance. Freshman Avah Kraushaar fought hard to the finish running to a 26:47.20. Coming across the tape third overall for the team was sophomore Arieana Hayton who crossed in 28:31.10. North Central Women's Cross County finished 7th overall. The University of Wisconsin Superior Yellowjackets also women the women's meet.
