Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Late Game Push Not Enough for the Rams to Catch the Knights

Minneapolis, MN -- After falling to Crown College in St. Bonifacius last Saturday, the North Central University (NCU) women's soccer team would host the Knights from Martin Luther College (MLC). On a rainy evening in downtown Minneapolis, Martin Luther was able to gain control of this game early and rode that momentum through the end of the game. The Rams would put up a good offensive effort late in the second half, however, it proved to be not enough as MLC was able to walk away with a 5-2 win.

The Knights would gain an early lead by scoring in just the first minute of the game. They would score three more goals in the 22nd, 29th, and 42nd minutes to put themselves up 4-0 by halftime. The Rams' offense was shut out by the Martin Luther defense as they were only able to muster three shots within the first 45 minutes.

Coming out of halftime, the Knights would not take long to strike again, scoring at the 56th-minute mark to push their lead to 5-0. In the 62nd minute, freshman Deshawna Hodges would find senior Isabella Connell for Connell's fourth goal of the season as the Rams would get on the board making the score 5-1. In the 73rd minute, Ramiyah Words would find the back of the net after dancing her way through the MLC defense, cutting the Knights' lead to three. As time wound down, both teams' defenses buckled down as neither team was able to score a goal to end the game. Despite the late-game momentum North Central would create, the Rams would fall to Martin Luther by a final score of 5-2.
